POPIA statement.

PanPay is committed to processing personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This statement explains, at a high level, how we comply with the eight conditions for lawful processing.

EFFECTIVE · 7 MAY 2026 · VERSION 1.0

This statement should be read together with our Privacy Notice, which describes the personal information we collect through our Website and how we use it.

1. Accountability

PanPay's Information Officer is responsible for ensuring that we comply with POPIA. The Information Officer can be reached at hello@usepanpay.org.

2. Processing limitation

We process personal information lawfully, in a reasonable manner that does not infringe on data subjects' privacy. We collect information directly from data subjects wherever practical and only with a lawful basis — most often consent, contract, or legitimate interest.

3. Purpose specification

We collect personal information for specific, explicitly defined, and lawful purposes — described in our Privacy Notice. Records are kept only for as long as needed for the purpose, or as required by law.

4. Further processing limitation

If we wish to use personal information for a new purpose, we will ensure that purpose is compatible with the original one, or we will obtain fresh consent before doing so.

5. Information quality

We take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we hold is complete, accurate, not misleading, and up to date. If you believe information we hold about you is wrong, please email hello@usepanpay.org and we'll correct it.

6. Openness

We maintain documentation of our processing activities and tell data subjects, when collecting their information, who we are, why we are collecting it, and what their rights are. This Website's Privacy Notice is the primary public expression of that openness.

7. Security safeguards

We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect personal information against loss, damage, and unauthorised or unlawful access. See our Security page for an overview.
